Instruction to reviewers

Initial Screening and Peer Review

The journal editors initially read all submitted manuscripts. Only those manuscripts that seem to be inside the scope of Biodesign are sent out for peer review. Both research and review papers are sent to at least two referees who are carefully selected based on expertise, reputation and specific recommendations.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers are required to notify the editor for any conflict of interest or any other factor which may affect their independence, for example, in case that they have received a paper of a colleague or a direct competitor.

Anonymity

Reviewers are anonymous by default. Reviewers identities are not revealed to authors or to other reviewers unless reviewers specifically request to be identified by signing their names at the end of their comments.

Confidentiality

Reviewers must treat the unpublished manuscripts in strict confidence and should not share any information regarding the submissions with other parties.

The responsible editor makes a decision of acceptance, revision, or rejection. Reviewers comments along with the decision letter are sent to the authors without delay. In case of revision, the revised manuscript is sent to the reviewers again to ask their opinions, and the final decision made by the editor is sent to the authors.

Galley Proof and Publication

The accepted manuscript is prepared for publication by copyeditors. The galley proof is approved by the authors before publication.
